ICHIRO
Sike, I got some thoughts obviously. Lets start with who got in. First we got Ichiro who was one little vote away from joining Mariano Rivera with being unanimous Hall of Famers. A lot of people are upset about this. But I am not, that is what makes the Baseball Hall of Fame so awesome. Old baseball writers that are the biggest "get off my lawn" guys in the world is why the Baseball Hall of Fame is still talked about. Can anyone name where the football, basketball, or hockey hall of fame is, or when they do their voting? Nope. There is a reason why the Baseball Hall of Fame votings are so criticized every year and no other sports hall of fame votes are. Back to Ichiro. He won 10 Gold Gloves and was in 10 All Star games in his first 10 years. I mean he could’ve retired right then and there and he would’ve been really close to getting in. A sad fact for my Marlins fans out there, Ichiro now has the most games played in a Marlins uniform out of anyone in the hall with 432 games. The Hall of Famer with the least amount of games played for the Marlins is Mike Piazza. Who could forget his week as a Marlin. Here is my favorite Ichiro clip.
CC
CC Sabathia is a great example of the stereotypical baseball player. Big fat lefty that just chucks the shit out of the ball... and also loves alcohol... maybe a little too much . I actually got to see CC once when I was playing a travel ball tournament against his son, and CC is a beast now. We lost to his sons team, but we would've won if our shortstop didn't make an error that let the ACC commit come to the plate and put one off the fence. CC's son did not get a hit so I will always have that. CC was also an all time big game pitcher. His run with the 2008 Brewers was unbelievable, too bad the Phillies had to shit all over his parade and win a World Series. CC did get his revenge the next year though with the Yankees. CC could also kind of swing the bat a little bit with 3 career bombs and a .207 batting average. My favorite CC highlight below.
BILLY
Last, but certainly not least we got Billy Wagner who on his last try got in. Billy Wagner's journey in baseball is really awesome. He broke his right arm twice as a kid and learned to throw left handed. Then he only threw low 80's in high school and went D3 where he gained 40 pounds and topped out at 92 his freshman year. I gained the freshman 15 and all I got was out of breathe. Maybe I should've committed to the full 40. But then Billy gets drafted 12th overall, wins a Rolaids Relief pitcher of the year and 30 years later he is a Hall of Famer. What an anomaly that will for sure be a shitty Netflix movie in about 5 years. It is very fitting that Billy Wagner got in the Hall of Fame in his last opportunity. I don't have a favorite Billy Wagner highlight because he was strictly business but here is his hype up tape.
BEST OF THE REST
Carlos Beltran is for sure a lock in the next few years while Andruw Jones is still fighting for his life because he couldn’t hit a baseball after the age of 30. Its nice to see Chase Utley get up there in percentage, but I don't think he has the career numbers to get in, he was a generational player though. Russell Martin getting more votes than Carlos Gonzalez is crazy because I could not tell you a damn thing Russell Martin did in his career, but I know that CarGo hit a walk-off BOMB to complete the cycle.
Besides all of that my last thoughts are that I find it hilarious that David Wright is still getting frug along in the basement, barely in the votes. I always knew he was overrated even when I was 8. Manny Ramirez should get in just on pure swagger even though he was on the juice. A-Rod should also get in just to make Yankees fans mad. With looking at next year's class and who is still available on the board, I think Carlos Beltran will be the only player to get in next year.
