Day 40/365 Blogging Every Day - The Biggest "What If" In Fictional Sports

This is just a warning, there will be spoilers from the movie A League of Their Own, also this blog will be very dumb and full of things that do not matter in any way shape or form in the actual world. Lets dig into how Dottie Hinson is the biggest "what if" in fictional sports.

Dottie was a catcher for the Rockford Peaches in A League of Their Own. If you have not seen the movie I suggest you stop reading right now, go watch it, and come back. The question now is what if Dottie Hinson never quit playing in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was clearly the best player on the team and was even a little bit of a manager on the field.

Dottie was the leader of the Peaches in the inaugural season of the AAGPBL. She has a little bit of that scrappy underdog mentality on her even though she was the most talented player in the entire league. If Dottie would of have played a full career, she would retire as the queen of the AAGPBL. The Peaches came in 2nd place that year and took the Racine Belles to a game 7. That was without fellow star 2nd baseman Marla Hooch too. Also, I have to throw out the allegations that Dottie Hinson threw game 7. Even though I am trying to say that she is the GOAT of the AAGPBL, in my hypothetical world of the hypothetical world of A League of Their Own, Dottie Hinson would not throw game 7. I mean she dropped the ball as her sister is crossing home plate to win the game. Does not get more throwing a game than that. Watch this clip and tell me that Kit hits Dottie that hard that the ball gets knocked out. Dottie is like 6 inches taller than her and is wearing full catchers gear.

Now to the part where we really get freaky. So obviously in my what if scenario, Dottie would remain on the Peaches for a while and continue to play at her MVP caliber level. By the end of her career she is probably the all time leader in a bunch of offensive stats. You are probably asking yourself "but she is a catcher and her knees will go out" yeah obviously, but her manager knows this because Dottie does whats best for the team and they stick her in the outfield, problem solved. Also when Marla Hooch comes back I bet the Peaches win a couple of championships because there is no way anyone is stopping the 3 headed monster of Dottie, Marla, and Doris. (Doris is the 3rd baseman that never shuts the hell up the entire movie). I would also say that in this what if scenario that Dottie probably becomes a manager too because she was basically the manager when Jimmy Dugan was too busy drowning his sorrows in whiskey in the beginning of the movie.

Basically what we have here in comparison is Yogi Berra when on the field, and Tommy Lasorda when managing. You cannot tell me otherwise because this is my hypothetical world that only lives in my head and you cannot change my mind. Also in my hypothetical world chicken wings are always 25 cents per wing but that is neither here nor there.
