Day 43/365 Blogging Every Day - Phillies Baseball Is Finally here

Spring Training games have started for the Phillies and boy oh boy is it nice to see some baseball on the TV screen. The sweet sounds of baseball are all hitting the spot. The pop of the mitt, the crack of the bat, and me telling Ruben Amaro jr to shut the hell up.

The first game was not broadcasted anywhere, but here is all you need to know about it. The only starters to play were Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, and Johan Rojas. They each did ok, nothing too crazy that is note worthy. The big takeaway here is that the Phillies were up 5-0 at one point. Pretty good right? Well considering they lost 7-6, that is not pretty good. Now I do realize that the outcome of these games do not matter at all, but winning never hurts. It was also nice to see top prospects Aiden Miller and Justin Crawford get some at bats under their belt even though they did not do much with their opportunities. Free agent signing Max Kepler also got a nice welcome as he got a hit in his first game as a Philly.

Todays game against the Orioles was a lot less interesting than giving up a 5 run lead. The actual Phillies that played were Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos, and Brandon Marsh. None of them got a hit so they were not the players that we are going to be paying attention to. Christian Arroyo and Gabriel Rincone jr brought the BOOMMM to Clearwater today. I once seen Gabriel Rincone jr hit a ball out of the park at the Reading Phillies stadium, so it does not come to a surprise that he smoked one onto the concourse. Both of these fellas hit a ball onto the concourse and I could not be more pleased as a lover of the long ball.

Aiden Miller and Justin Crawford played in this game too and they both had terrible at bats in the 8th inning. The Phillies had runners on first and second with no one out and were down by 3. You would think our top position player prospects would do something, if you thought that then you have not been following Phillies baseball enough. Hard to get mad though when the Phillies are playing baseball baseball in February. All in all, these games do not matter of the outcome, just as long as everyone has fun right. (I did not have fun watching the Phillies lose today)
