This is not if 2 crippled players got in a brawl when the dugouts clear, although that would be funny. I am talking about if the 2 best crippled pitchers of all time went head to head in a game. Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown vs. Jim Abbott are going to be the headliners of this cripple fight. Both of these men were great pitchers in their time in the big leagues so lets give them a quick comparison in terms of how they are crippled, their careers, and finally, who would win in a matchup between them.
Can you guess how Mordecai"Three Finger" Brown got his nickname, I bet you can't. Brown had his entire right index finger chopped off by a feed chopper when he was a child. He also broke his middle and ring finger after he lost his index finger in a separate occasion which did not help him in making his right hand look normal. Trying the figure out how to shake his hand would be a nightmare. Jim Abbott on the other hand, well, he had no other hand. Jim was born with only a left hand, his other hand was basically if your arm got cut off right at the wrist and became a nub.

Three Finger Brown is a Hall of Fame pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. His most notable characteristic is that he was Christy Mathewson's kryptonite. Mathewson was known at the time for being the best pitcher in baseball, which his 373 career wins back that claim up. Brown held a 13-11 record against him all time and was the only pitcher of his era to go toe-to-toe with Mathewson consistently. Jim Abbot is not a member of the Hall of Fame and nor will he ever be one. He was however the 8th overall pick in the 1988 MLB draft by the California Angels. His claim to fame is that he threw a no-hitter for the New York Yankees in 1993. Abbot also finished 3rd in Cy Young voting in 1991 which is pretty impressive for a guy with only one hand. One thing that is of great importance for Jim Abbot is that he had 21 career at bats and in those 21 at bats he had 2 hits, both against the same pitcher on different days. Jon Lieber, how do you live with yourself letting a man with half as many hands as you get not 1, but 2 hits off of you.
Now for the matchup that the slow kids in class have all been waiting for. A man with 3 fingers up against a man with one hand. There is no real way to put these 2 in a simulation to see who wins as both of these guys are not in MLB The Show so I cannot even have a video game make this up so all of this made up game is going to be coming straight from my brain and into yours. This might get crazy folks.
Three Finger brown will give a strong start. Known for his movement on his pitches as he had a grip on the ball that gave it movement like a sinker, he can eat up innings like a fat kid at the buffet. In 1909 he had 32 complete games and 342 innings pitched so yeah, fat kid at the buffet. I am saying he goes the distance in this one as he always turned it up for a big game. Jim Abbot, on the other nub? Hand? Nub? Lets go with foot. Jim Abbot was a stud for about 7 years, and then he got traded to the White Sox and his performance fell off a cliff. But for that first 7 years he had 80 wins and a 3.77 ERA which is pretty damn good for anyone, let alone a man with one hand. I think Jim gives 6 shut out innings, but then he has a few walks and leaves a fastball over the heart of the plate that gets demolished like Three Finger Brown's index finger in the feed chopper.
Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown - 1
Jim Abbot - 0
