The first full week of Phillies baseball is finally here and it was a pretty unique week at that. I love Spring Training baseball. I love watching Phillies baseball, I love watching the stars of today for the first 5ish innings and then the stars of tomorrow play for the rest of the innings. I also love how the fan chatter is much louder and the vendors shouting "BEER BEER BEER BEER BEER" really makes me want to drink an ice cold beer.
Let me just start by saying that Gabriel Rincones Jr. is going to be a monster. His OPS so far in spring training is a 1.944 which is so god damn good. He is actually making me mad how good he is because he will at least get bumped to AAA Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and I can no longer watch him play for the Reading Phillies. Gabriel is going to be a stud one day and it better be in the red pinstripes.
The Phillies also tied against the Yankees which is just silly to think that a baseball game ended in a tie. I guess that is just the charm of spring training baseball. But how about these youngsters. Not only is Rincones Jr. doing really well, but so is Otto Kemp who I hope stays in Reading a little bit longer for the sole reason that he was a great Sheetz RBI guy and got me multiple free milkshakes. Lets not forget that Johan Rojas is still in his early 20's and he is earning his spot in the everyday lineup by showing some real power that he has not had in his first 2 seasons. Just look at his swing it looks so pretty right now.
The starting pitching has been absolutely stellar so far. Zack Wheeler and Jesus Luzardo both got their first starts out of the way and oh boy am I excited for this year. Zack Wheeler did what Zack Wheeler does by shoving it for the 2 innings that he was on the mound and striking out 4 batters. Jesus Luzardo I was not familiar with your game. Jesus was bumping it up to 98 mph in his 2 innings of scoreless ball. Chris Sanchez also shoved in his start. You can tell he is getting good when the media drops the full Christopher and just goes with Chris. How about the new guy Jordan Romano, his stuff looked absolutely disgusting in his scoreless inning earlier in the week.

The old guys are not doing so well though. Bohm, Turner, Stott, Castellanos, and Schwarber have all been not very good. I do not know if they are tweaking with things and trying to implement them in the game or what but my god have they been absolutely trash. Bohm needs to cut his hair. It is way too long for him to be this bad at baseball. I am not asking for a buzz cut, but at least a few inches or he will hear me call him a girl from the 400 section all year long. Also the Japanese guy that we signed, Koyo Aoyagi, he has got to throw some strikes. Now I am not going to put too much blame on him as the Phillies walked 13 batters in today’s game against the Red Sox in which he pitched. As all base ballers know, walking batters is like a disease, as contagious as the bubonic plague. But looking at Koyo's numbers, he tends to walk more batters than the average bear which I am sure the Phillies fans will not like. I actually hope he sucks just to hear Koyo Aoyagi said in a true, authentic Philly accent on 94WHIP.
That is all I got for the Phillies first week of baseball in 2025 which is hopefully the start of the championship DVD. Like and share with a Phillies fan so we can all be happy together.
That is today's Tea, with T
