The Phillies Daycare is one of the more unique concepts in the last 5 years. It was used to describe the young players on the team. Becoming popularized in the 2022 season when Matt Vierling and Alec Bohm hit back to back home runs to take the lead off of Josh Hader in June when Hader did not let up a home run all year. Alec Bohm was 26 then, and he is now 28. Matt Vierling is no longer a Philly.
The "daycare" now is down to Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, and Brandon Marsh. Some former members include Christian Pache, JoJo Romero, and Nick Maton. You see, I would not have any issue with these Phillies Players who are all in their late 20's calling themselves the daycare if they were actually good. Yeah Alec Bohm was an all-star last year, but after the all-star game he was complete dog shit. Bryson Stott, who is now 26, was supposed to be the next Chase Utley. When you hit .245 with only 11 bombs, the only thing that you are the next of, is the next guy on the chopping block. Brandon Marsh, who is now 27, I feel can be the best of the 3 players next season, but when you strike out over 150 times, its hard to really do anything. All 3 of these guys were drafted in the first 2 rounds, and were all highly sought after prospects. But now all they are is mediocre.
The only thing that I can see right now is remember when the 1950 Phillies were known as the Whiz Kids because of how young they were. And they won the NL in 1950 and everyone thought that they would be a powerhouse for a few years. Yeah I think you are starting to recognize the same patterns that I am seeing. Also, why is Taijuan Walker still a Philadelphia Philly. Can we please do something to get rid of him. I don't care if we trade him for a bucket of curveballs and some left handed fungos. Oh and the daycare's schtick of always pouring the cups of water on whoever is getting interviewed after the game got real old, real quick. How many different ways can one pour a cup of water on someone.
Sorry for the shorter than usual blog today. I gotta blog everyday for a whole year and I woke up today feeling like complete dog shit, so I am not saying I mailed it in today, but let's just say I did my best government worker impression. I got some good ones in the works for this weekend so stay tuned.
