Derek Jeter is a Hall of Fame Shortstop for the New York Yankees. It does not get much better than that does it? Well no not really, but was Derek Jeter really as good as people say he was? He did win 5 World Series rings, 5 Gold Gloves, 5 Silver Sluggers, was a rookie of the year, 14x All-Star, and a World Series MVP, but trust me bro, he was actually not that good. Just trust me bro.
This is basically just going to be a hit piece on Derek Jeter because for one, Yankees suck, and two, Derek Jeter is a bum, scum of the earth type of person. Lets start with this Derek Jeter is a good baseball player, not a great baseball player. He has good statistical numbers like 3,000 hits because he was usually in good health and he played just about everyday. Some may say that the best ability is availability, but what is availability if you suck ass at what you do. I think the real argument starts in 2004 when Alex Rodriguez was traded to the Yankees.
Up to this point in Alex Rodriguez's career he was the player everyone hated because he was so good. Like a Tom Brady type of vibe to him just hispanic instead of white. He had the highest paying contract, he just came off a year where he won the AL MVP, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger. So he is the best fielder at his position, and the best hitter in his position according to just about everyone in baseball and he gets traded to a team that just lost the World Series. So what does A-Rod do? He moves over to third base, even though he is the best shortstop in the game. Why? Because Derek Jeter is a selfish mother fucker who was not willing to let anyone else play shortstop while he was on the Yankees. Derek Jeter never played any position besides shortstop or DH for his entire career. No literally look at his position stats, he never played one pitch anywhere else on the field besides shortstop. Not even when he was 40 years old playing for the Yankees just stinking it the hell up.
Derek Jeter must’ve been a really good fielder then to make Alex Rodriguez move over to third base? Wrong yet again. The invention of advanced fielding statistics have absolutely killed Derek Jeter as a fielder. Yeah he might of have won 5 Gold Gloves, but that's mostly based on fielding percentage and the eye test, which Jeter excelled at. Did you know that Derek Jeter holds the record in the South Atlantic League, high A ball, for most errors in a season with 56. Dude was bad at fielding before he even got to the league. If you look at his Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) which rates every fielder based on how good they are at all fielding metrics such as glove, arm, range, etc. It basically puts every fielder on the same playing field where 0 is average. Derek Jeter once costed his team 27 runs in 2005 with a -27 DRS. Just one bad season right? Wrong again meat head, back to tik tok with the hot chicks. Derek Jeter is the career leader in most defensive runs given up with 165. That means that Derek Jeter costed his team 165 runs over the course of his career from errors, bad range, and mental miscues. Your drunk uncle at the cookout has saved more runs for the Yankees at shortstop than Derek Jeter. You may be wondering how bad a -165 DRS for a career is, and that my friend, is the worst all time for a shortstop. Now, let me enlighten you with some of the finest tweets of people making fun of Derek Jeter on twitter.
"bUt He maDe dA JuMp ThROw!"

Thats because he had no defensive range. Any other shortstop makes that play with ease.
"He rAn iNTo da StaNDs aNd MAdE Da CatCH"

My Italian brother in christ, he made the catch and took 5 steps and jumped into the stands.
"BuT hE fliPpEd De bALl into DeR caTcHErS glOVe"

That ball was perfectly on line and you never cut off a ball thats on target. Maybe your 8u baseball coach never taught you that you stupid fat Italian. I can hear the grease in your throat.
Derek Jeter also did not help his status when he became the CEO of the Miami Marlins in 2017. First thing the "great" Derek Jeter did when he was the big man in charge was trade away the following players
Giancarlo Stanton - Won 2017 NL MVP (You will never guess who he was traded to)
JT Realmuto - 2018 Silver Slugger award winner
Christian Yelich - 2018 NL MVP award winner
Marcel Ozuna from the Braves - 2017 Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winner
Dee Gordon - 2017 stolen base leader
All of those players were Marlins at the start of Derek Jeter's tenure as a CEO, and within a year and a half they were all gone. This guy ran a team about as good as he could field a baseball.
Thank god he gave the Phillies J.T. Realmuto for a bucket of baseballs and a stack of lineup cards.
And it was not even just the players that Jeter sucked at being a CEO about. The Marlins had a real life fish tank behind home plate. A fish tank on a baseball field is so god damn cool. It was literally a one of a kind feature, but nope Jeter got rid of that ASAP. Another thing that Derek Jeter did as the Marlins CEO was that he got rid of the home run statue. It was the ugliest looking thing ever in the outfield, but that was part of the charm of the Marlins. The Marlins never had good looking uniforms or stadium. Being ugly was just part of being a Marlin. And then he got in a feud with the Marlins Man who is like one of the 25 Marlins fans in the world. How much of a dick do you have to be to get in a fight with your one and only super fan.

From not being willing to move positions from shortstop which literally cost his team winning multiple games a season, to not even being the best shortstop on his team, being the worst overall shortstop fielder of all time, and trading away every single good player on the team that you are in charge of right away. Derek Jeter is one, a true sack of shit, and two, not a good baseball player. I said my peace.
